On July 13, 1938, the 289th News of the Day broadcast of California media-tycoon William Randolph Hearst covers the refugee conference in Évian. Although the bi-weekly newsreel has been produced with sound since 1929, only a silent version of the report and other footage on the conference and Intergovernmental Committee on Refugees has remained.
